About Dream District

Dream District is a home-based recording studio nestled in the warmth and beauty of Benoni, in South Africa. Owned and operated by music scene veteran Ashley De Beer, who’s passion for music has taken him across the ocean to Europe, UK and USA over several tours fronting melodic hardcore band Truth & Its Burden. Still very much an active creative musician in Lower Hollow and Solid Gold Sunday respectively, Ashley offers years of sound industry experience in a full studio service platform.
At a crossroad during global lockdowns Ashley sought to build a home studio, acquire studio recording gear and open a new chapter in audio engineering by combining personal recording experience with an exciting new found passion for recording and mixing.

Fit for purpose as a one-room studio, Dream District is fully capable on delivering professional studio recordings on a more flexible budget than most established multi-room studios in the main city region. At 6x6m, the studio is acoustically treated and well sized for live drum tracking, as well as live amp recording amongst a myriad of recording other string and percussive instruments.

At Dream District, collaboration with the artist is paramount in developing a cohesive sound that translates to a great final mix. Ashley’s ability to communicate creative ideas effectively in non-technical manner makes the process of producing, engineering and mixing your music a fun and creative experience. Ashley’s mixing style is punchy, tonal and dynamic, as he seeks to deliver vibrant energetic mixes that excite the listener.

With a wide appreciation for many genres, Ashley is comfortable recording and mixing most styles of rock, alternative, metal, death metal, hardcore, punk rock, acoustic, folk as well as solo artists. Get in touch today to discuss how we can help on your next recording project.
